Holland, Michigan

Holland is located along the shores of Lake Michigan and is one of my top 5 favorite lake towns in Michigan, and my favorite in West Michigan.  With sandy beaches and dunes, the famous Tulip Time, one of the quaintest downtown shopping areas in Michigan and hometown of Hope College, Holland has something to offer for everyone.  It was also voted as one of "America's Pretiest Towns" by Forbes Magazine.

Tulip Time

If you like to experience small town festivals, you don't want to miss Tulip Time ... but unfortunately it was cancelled this year due to Coronavirus and Michigan's stay-at-home order.  Tulip Time has been regarded as the Best Small Town Festival in America. Complete with dutch dancers, an artisan market, culture, entertainment and of course, tulips, Tulip Time won't disappoint.  Definitely plan to visit in the future!  Check out my recent blog regarding Tulip Time.  Tulip Time Info

Holland Farmers Market

From mid-May through mid-December, over 100 local vendors, farmers and food trucks come together at the Eighth Street Market Place every Wednesday and Saturday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.  AMAZING produce, veggies, fresh baked goods, cheeses, and more.

And don't let the cooler weather keep you away.  They host a Winter Market on the first and third Saturday January - April from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.  Not as many vendors, but still a great place to get what you're looking for!

A favorite that I highly recommend:

Bowerman's Blueberries Farm Market

Since 1954, the Bowerman family has grown super delicious, super healthy Michigan blueberries, red raspberries and strawberries on their 90 acre farm.

During the summer months, Bowerman Farm Market grows and sells their own fresh blueberries, red raspberries, and juicy red strawberries pre-picked and ready for you to take home. They also offer a large variety of locally grown, fresh picked sweet cherries, sugar peas, peaches, plums, green beans, yellow beans, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, sweet corn, onions, potatoes and more.

Bowerman's also carries many local Michigan specialty food products-great gifts. The store will re-open for the season in the spring, but if you are in the need for fresh frozen blueberries, you can contact Bowerman's year-round!
